Research only: these cover descriptions are not accepted, buyer-specific policies. The sources do not establish current full terms, a matched premium, acceptance of your risk or an active buying route. Buy opens an on-site availability notice only.
Team-supplied product records. Compare the stated cover and conditions; confirm current availability and terms with the responsible insurer.
What these information labels mean
Not yet verified—confirm with insurer.
A detail is missing or has not been established by the current evidence. This does not mean a benefit is excluded.
Not applicable
Use only where the policy evidence establishes that the particular field does not apply. Missing information is not treated as not applicable.
In discussion with the policy provider.
Use only for a named product with a current, record-specific report of actual discussions. Details remain unconfirmed; the label does not establish a partnership or buying route.
Under review
Use only when an actual review is underway. It does not mean the review has been completed or the policy approved.
Quote required
No comparable current payable premium is established here. Ask the insurer for the applicable price, compulsory charges and conditions.
How these descriptions were selected
Owner-approved editorial listings use the team's completed 17 October intake. COMPLETED is an intake status, not contractual verification. Exact product/document references remain internal; company homepages are navigation only.
Provider-group counts are not verified legal-underwriter counts. Team confirmation is retained; no independent contractual review is claimed.
The five source checks are shown separately on each description. They are evidence-status notes, not a product score or recommendation; “unconfirmed” does not mean a benefit is excluded.
Your selected descriptions
Compare the insured event and limits before the premium. This selection does not request a quote.
No quote was requested, no personal details were collected or shared, and no insurer was contacted. AfriPolicyCover provides an editorial comparison and does not issue this policy.
Keep the plan name and review its official evidence, current wording and accepted quote before taking a next step.
A fire-damaged press, a customer's goods, an injured worker and six weeks without sales are four different insurance questions. Start with the work you actually do, then ask which section responds to each loss.

01 / Describe the actual work
“Small business” is not an insurable activity.
Imagine a fictional Nairobi print-and-pack studio. Its owner leases one room, owns a heat press and stock, holds customer garments for printing, employs two people and dispatches finished orders through a carrier. The building belongs to the landlord. A quote for a generic office would miss the press, customer property and dispatch. A different shop in Kisumu or a coastal warehouse may have a different location, flood, theft or transit exposure; there is no single Kenyan SME basket.
Write an operating brief before asking for a KSh price

State the actual interest
What to verify
Place and use
Leased room, heat work, opening hours and security.
Correct risk address, trade, landlord interest, fire and theft conditions.
Owned assets

Each item group, value, property section and machinery breakdown option.
Goods for others
Customer garments held for printing and finished orders with a carrier.
Custody, contractual liability, ownership at handover and transit wording.
People and income
Employees, visitors, trading records and alternative production.
Worker/third-party sections, property trigger and realistic indemnity period.
Keep this brief privately. This page does not ask for the address, staff list, KRA number, customer contracts or accounts.
02 / Kenyan first-party desk · checked 10 October 2026
Fourteen legal-insurer descriptions. Zero accepted SME-policy comparisons.
The IRA's 30 March 2026 entity notice helps match legal general insurers to the names below. Check the live IRA insurer route again before a real purchase. An insurer's published package or section is a question to take to underwriting—not proof that this trade, address, employee class, limit or premium has been accepted. Banks and brokers are not counted as extra insurers, and a single-section product is not labelled a full SME package.
One bounded business-cover signal per legal insurer · not a ranking or fourteen-policy shortlist
Indexed Business Combined description names fire, lost profit, burglary, transit and people sections. Direct GET timed out.
Reachable current wording and the trade-specific selected package.
03 / Name the event and the asset
One incident can open several files, or none.
A “combined” renewal date is convenient; it is not a pooled benefit. Britam's optional-section list and First Assurance's material-damage dependency show why each selected contract part matters. Keep customer property and goods with a carrier out of the owner's stock total until the accepted interest is clear.
Match a business loss to a section before assuming cover
Loss
Likely section to ask about
Boundary to inspect
Fire damages stock or press
Fire/material damage or selected industrial all risks.
Scheduled property, location, sum, heat process and permitted peril.
Locked shop is burgled
Burglary, money and perhaps fidelity as separate risks.
Forcible entry, locks, cash limit, keys, employee dishonesty and proof.
Press fails electrically
Machinery breakdown/electronic equipment and any dependent profit loss.
Fire cover alone does not establish breakdown or resulting interruption.
Customer goods or dispatched parcel lost
Goods held in trust, carrier liability, goods in transit or marine.
Who owned it, custody, route, vehicle, packing and handover point.
Customer injured at premises
Public liability, subject to accepted duty and event.
Legal liability, defence consent, limit, exclusions and incident proof.
04 / Employee, visitor or contractor?
Who was harmed determines the question you ask.
Employee
Work injury is a legal and policy file.
Confirm the employee class, actual duties, workplace and WIBA section. Kenya's Labour Ministry workplace service and the Work Injury Benefits Act provide official context. A statutory report and an insurance notification should not be treated as the same form.
Customer or passer-by
Public liability starts with an alleged duty.
Record the injury or property damage, witness account, site condition and claim communication. Ask for the liability section, legal-defence terms, territorial limit and any exclusion; never promise that every accident is payable.
Contractor or client
Contracts can change the interest.
Check who controls the worksite and goods, who carries transport risk and what indemnities were signed. Office property does not silently include professional advice, cyber incidents or a third party's goods.
Do not assume WIBA replaces employer liability or that a public-liability limit pays worker compensation. Ask the legal insurer and, for a real legal dispute, a qualified Kenyan adviser.
05 / Fictional Nairobi studio · KSh
The damaged property is not the lost trading margin.
Suppose a covered fire closes the invented studio for six weeks. The owner sketches replacement values for owned property and a separate weekly gross-profit history. These numbers teach record separation; they are not a valuation, a premium, an accepted claim or an insurer's gross-profit definition.
Illustrative amounts that must not be merged into one automatic benefit
Ledger

Insurance question
Owned heat press
KSh 360,000
Material damage value and heat-process disclosure.
Owned stock
KSh 230,000
Stock at this address, including seasonal peaks, but not customer garments.
Owned computers
KSh 190,000
Equipment section, location and replacement basis.
Owned-property sketch
KSh 780,000
360,000 + 230,000 + 190,000; not a policy sum until accepted.
Six-week trading sketch
KSh 315,000
KSh 52,500 normal weekly gross profit × 6; insurer definition, saved costs and trends still govern.
Alternative press hire
KSh 90,000
Ask whether reasonable increased cost of working is selected and how it reduces lost trade.
Do not add KSh 780,000 + 315,000 + 90,000 and call it a claim. Property damage and business interruption have different triggers, sums, evidence and excesses. Emergency hire may shorten the loss and may be capped or treated differently. GA, Cannon, First Assurance and Mayfair each tie their described lost-profit route to defined physical damage; the exact accepted wording controls.
06 / Compare written KSh offers
Hold the business constant before comparing the price.
No matched Kenyan SME premium is established here. Ask each licensed insurer to quote the same trade, locations, owned and held property, employee duties, turnover or gross-profit basis, liability limit, recovery period, security and excess. A provisional quote is not proof that the risk has been accepted or cover begun.
Fields to reconcile on each like-for-like business offer
Field
Keep equal across offers
Written proof to request
Legal issuer and trade
Same actual activity, address, hours and heat/chemical processes.
IRA check, named insurer, accepted proposal and risk schedule.
Property and custody
Same KSh building/stock/equipment values, customer goods and transit role.
Selected section, ownership interest, security terms and per-location sums.
People and liability
Same employee classes, contractor work and third-party limit.
WIBA/employer/public liability selections, defence and exclusions.
Continuity
Same gross-profit basis, dependency, waiting rule and indemnity period.
Damage trigger, BI schedule and increased-cost-of-working clause.
Total KSh cost
Same coverage term, excess, instalment basis and stated charges.
Dated premium/levy breakdown, payment terms and issued evidence of acceptance.
07 / After an incident
Protect people, then build separate loss files.
01
Make the site safe.
Call the relevant emergency service, arrange care and preserve a dated incident log.
02
Notify the verified issuer.
Use the policy's claim channel, ask for a reference and confirm any urgent mitigation instruction.
03
Separate the ledgers.
Keep owned property, customer goods, employee/third-party harm, transit and lost trading evidence apart.
04
Preserve the proof.
Save photos, stock and custody records, invoices, payroll, accounts, repair estimates and alternative-work costs.
05
Read the written decision.
Ask which section, cause, limit, excess or condition controlled it. If unresolved, use the IRA complaint route with the insurer's response and records.
Keep business records on your own secure channel or the verified insurer's channel. Do not send a KRA PIN, customer list, worker record, turnover ledger, bank detail or claim file to this page.
Continue the Kenyan decision
Follow the exposure, not a generic package label.
These related Kenya routes have their own private evidence states. None is a live quote or provider handoff.
Is a combined business policy the same at every Kenyan insurer?
No. CIC lists a range of sections; Britam Biashara has compulsory fire and optional sections; First Assurance's industrial route is different again. Ask for the selected schedule and full wording.
Are the fourteen insurers on this page fourteen accepted policies?
No. They are distinct first-party research descriptions. Zero complete current accepted like-for-like SME policy records or matched KSh offers are established here.
Does fire cover automatically pay for weeks of lost sales?
No. Ask whether a separate business-interruption section was selected, whether the property event qualifies, and which accounting basis and indemnity period apply.
Does business interruption pay after a power cut or weak sales?
Do not assume it. The insurer routes cited here often depend on accepted physical damage. A power or supplier extension, if available, must be written into the actual contract.
Are customer goods included in my stock sum?
Not automatically. Describe your custody and legal interest, customer contract, handover and any goods-held-in-trust or transit section.
Will burglary cover employee theft?
Not simply because both involve missing stock or cash. Forcible-entry burglary, money and fidelity/employee dishonesty can be distinct sections with different evidence and conditions.
Does a fire section insure mechanical breakdown of my press?
Not by implication. Ask for a machinery or electronic-equipment section and any dependent loss-of-profit extension.
Does WIBA replace employers liability or public liability?
Do not treat the three as interchangeable. Identify whether the injured person is an employee or third party, then check the legal route, selected insurer section and limit.
Is a bank or broker named on a sales page the legal insurer?
Possibly not. Request the issuing insurer's legal name and check its class through the IRA. An intermediary's package name is not a separate insurer.
What should I compare when one KSh quote is cheaper?
Match activity, sites, assets, customer goods, employee duties, liability, interruption basis, selected perils, excess, period and all stated charges before comparing totals.
What evidence matters after a business loss?
Keep incident and safety records, photos, stock/custody records, invoices, accounts, payroll, mitigation costs and the policy. Ask the insurer for a written section-by-section decision.
Can I submit company or claim information to AfriPolicyCover here?
No. This page has no company-data form, quote flow, document upload, insurer redirect or payment route.
