Research only: these cover descriptions are not accepted, buyer-specific policies. The sources do not establish current full terms, a matched premium, acceptance of your risk or an active buying route. Buy opens an on-site availability notice only.
Team-supplied product records. Compare the stated cover and conditions; confirm current availability and terms with the responsible insurer.
What these information labels mean
Not yet verified—confirm with insurer.
A detail is missing or has not been established by the current evidence. This does not mean a benefit is excluded.
Not applicable
Use only where the policy evidence establishes that the particular field does not apply. Missing information is not treated as not applicable.
In discussion with the policy provider.
Use only for a named product with a current, record-specific report of actual discussions. Details remain unconfirmed; the label does not establish a partnership or buying route.
Under review
Use only when an actual review is underway. It does not mean the review has been completed or the policy approved.
Quote required
No comparable current payable premium is established here. Ask the insurer for the applicable price, compulsory charges and conditions.
How these descriptions were selected
Owner-approved editorial listings use the team's completed 17 October intake. COMPLETED is an intake status, not contractual verification. Exact product/document references remain internal; company homepages are navigation only.
Provider-group counts are not verified legal-underwriter counts. Team confirmation is retained; no independent contractual review is claimed.
The five source checks are shown separately on each description. They are evidence-status notes, not a product score or recommendation; “unconfirmed” does not mean a benefit is excluded.
Your selected descriptions
Compare the insured event and limits before the premium. This selection does not request a quote.
No quote was requested, no personal details were collected or shared, and no insurer was contacted. AfriPolicyCover provides an editorial comparison and does not issue this policy.
Keep the plan name and review its official evidence, current wording and accepted quote before taking a next step.
A certificate only helps if it names the right traveller, territory and dates—and someone knows whom to call when care or evacuation cannot wait. Start with the journey, not the cheapest-looking premium.
Owner-approved editorial edition · no passport, itinerary, diagnosis, phone or booking intake.
First-party South Africa-origin travel concept. It does not show a Kenyan route, eligible traveller, accepted medical benefit, insurer or claim.

01 / Define the journey
One travel brief, four facts an insurer must accept.
A family flying from Nairobi, a road traveller to the coast, a student abroad and a visitor arriving in Kenya may need different contracts. A domestic trip is not automatically inside an international medical policy; an annual multi-trip plan can still limit each continuous journey. Tell the issuer about the whole route, purpose and activities before relying on a plan name.
Write the journey once, then test each proposed certificate against it
Brief field
What to write down
Why it matters
Traveller and residence
Who is insured, ordinary residence, ages and family or employer relationship.
A resident outbound policy and an inbound visitor policy are not interchangeable.
Route and dates
Departure, transit, destination, border crossings and planned return.
Territory, visa evidence, stopovers and a maximum consecutive-trip period can change cover.
Purpose and activity
Study, work, pilgrimage, safari, sport, driving or motorbike use.
Activities and equipment may be excluded or need a different section.
Money at risk
Non-refundable bookings, existing refunds, emergency-care exposure and property carried.
Cancellation, medical, delay and baggage have separate triggers and limits.
Leaving Kenya
Outbound
Match every transit and destination to the certificate. For a Schengen application, check the destination authority's current medical-insurance requirements; a visa document does not prove other travel benefits.
Arriving in Kenya
Inbound
Confirm the visitor's residence, entry dates, accepted certificate and medical or repatriation scope with official entry guidance before departure.
Inside Kenya
Domestic
Check whether a road, rail or air journey qualifies. CIC, Cannon and Madison publish product-specific distance or trip rules; none is a country-wide definition.
02 / Three separate arrival checks
An eTA is not an insurance certificate.
The Ministry of Health's November 2025 approved framework describes travel-health insurance for non-Kenyans intending to remain under twelve months. The framework alone does not establish which certificate, seller, limit or checkpoint will be accepted for a particular arrival. The Ministry's traveller-information page lists other arrival-health checks but did not establish the operational insurance purchase route in this review.
Check entry permission separately: Kenya's official eTA guidance sets out an application route and exemptions, while Immigration's traveller obligations distinguish travel documents and entry permission from health or vaccination requirements. An approved eTA—or an eTA exemption—does not answer whether travel-health insurance evidence is required or accepted for this traveller. Recheck the responsible authorities before departure; do not buy from an unverified link because a marketing page calls the programme “mandatory”.
The IRA's 30 March 2026 legal-entity notice includes the eleven named general insurers below. Its broad insurance classes are not product-level approval or purchase-day authority; check the current IRA insurer route and ask for the exact issuer, certificate and wording. The previous twelve displayed CIC tiers were all one insurer's dated research rows; they are retained in the research file but no longer presented as a public-style policy catalogue or Buy shortlist.
Eleven distinct legal-insurer signals · research, not a price or policy ranking
Outside-Kenya emergency medical plus baggage, passport, delay and accident sections for Kenya residents.
Residence eligibility, pre-existing-condition position and issued limits.
Evidence boundary: no complete, current, accepted, like-for-like travel-policy file or matched traveller-specific KSh premium is established here. A NCBA brochure endpoint returned 404; a Heritage page had placeholder testimonials and returned 403 on direct GET; distributor pages were excluded. The Ministry framework is not an insurer offer. No ranking, quote, recommendation or provider handoff is active.
04 / Name the event
One interruption can involve five different benefit tests.
Ask for the trigger and evidence for the loss you actually fear. Medical assistance is a service route, not just a high headline limit; cancellation is not the same as delay or curtailment, and baggage thresholds may run on a different clock.
Separate the benefit trigger before comparing its limit
Benefit
Decision to check
Evidence to keep
Emergency medical
Sudden illness or injury, territory, pre-existing condition and prior approval.
Certificate, medical report, itemised bills and assistance reference.
Evacuation or return
Who decides medical necessity and destination of transport?
Clinical recommendation, dispatch approval and transport record.
Cancellation or curtailment
Is the event listed, and is the cost genuinely non-refundable?
Booking terms, payment, event proof and refund/credit statement.
Carrier and baggage delay
What minimum hours, custody rules, single-item limits and deductions apply?
Carrier report, baggage tag, receipts and confirmed delay times.
Accident or liability
Is this a fixed accident benefit or accepted legal liability?
Incident report, demand, police record and insurer instruction.
05 / Request comparable offers
Hold the journey constant before comparing cost.
Published USD rates in a 2025 flyer and an online calculator are not a matched current KSh quote. Keep the traveller, residence, dates, destination zone, trip purpose, selected medical and non-medical benefits, currency and tax basis identical.

Price boundary: this page has zero matched current KSh travel quotes. Do not convert an old USD period rate into today's offer or call a plan “cheapest” without identical risk and accepted terms.
06 / Fictional disruption ledger
A KSh 136,000 bill is not a KSh 136,000 claim.
Imagine a missed connection and delayed checked bag on a paid trip: KSh 92,000 in prepaid bookings, KSh 28,000 in extra accommodation and transport, and KSh 16,000 in necessary replacements. This is a teaching situation, not an insurer quote, claim or payment forecast.

KSh 116,000

A KSh 10,000 excess, if the selected wording applies one, is a further possible retained cost—not another bill to add to the gross outlay. Keep the carrier's response and every refund or credit.
07 / When the journey breaks
Get urgent help; then protect the claim record.
01
Attend to the emergency
For a life-threatening event, seek local emergency care first. Contact the number on the issued certificate as soon as it is safe; do not delay urgent treatment to get an insurance reference.
02
Confirm what can be authorised
For planned admission, evacuation or major spending, ask the assistance company what needs approval under this certificate. CIC company homepage describes a 24-hour assistance route, but its procedure is not every insurer's rule. Keep the call reference and written directions.
03
Obtain third-party records
Request carrier delay and baggage reports, police or incident records and medical reports where relevant.
04
Reconcile money
Keep tickets, receipts, payment proof, unused-cost calculations, refunds and alternative offers.
05
Read the written decision
Ask the legal insurer which cause, territory, notice period, limit or excess applied before escalating a dispute.
Questions before buying
Check the journey that is actually on the certificate.
Do inbound visitors need travel health insurance for Kenya?
The Ministry's November 2025 approved framework describes an inbound travel-health requirement for certain non-Kenyans. This review did not establish its current point-of-entry acceptance process. Check the latest Ministry and immigration instructions for the actual traveller and date. An eTA approval or exemption is a separate entry-permission matter, not an insurance ruling.
Is a Schengen travel certificate enough for every risk?
No. Check the destination authority's current visa insurance rule separately from cancellation, baggage and activity benefits. Visa acceptance does not guarantee a claim.
Does every domestic trip inside Kenya qualify?
No. Distance, duration, transport and residence conditions differ by product. A 100 km rule on one insurer page is not a national rule.
Will ordinary health insurance pay abroad?
Do not assume so. A health plan's overseas emergency benefit, network and reimbursement terms may differ from travel assistance and evacuation. Read both contracts.
Are pre-existing medical conditions covered?
Only the accepted policy wording can answer. Declare relevant conditions through the insurer's secure process and obtain its written position; do not enter health details here.
Are safari, water sports or motorbike activities included?
Check the listed activity and transport rules before departure, especially for remote evacuation, paid work or high-risk pursuits.
What is the difference between cancellation and curtailment?
Cancellation concerns a trip before it starts; curtailment concerns an early return. The accepted causes, unused cost, refund and proof differ.
Can I claim an airline refund and an insurance payment for the same cost?
Reconcile refunds and credits first. An insurer generally assesses the remaining eligible loss under the selected wording, not the already-refunded amount.
What proof is needed for delayed baggage?
Keep the carrier's report and timing, baggage tag, itemised essential-purchase receipts and any compensation or recovery notice.
When should I call the assistance number?
Seek local emergency care first if life is at risk; call the number on the issued certificate as soon as it is safe. For non-urgent admission, evacuation or major expense, check its exact notification and approval rule before committing to a cost.
Which Kenyan travel insurer is cheapest?
This page cannot rank one. Eleven insurer descriptions are research signals, not complete comparable accepted policies, and no matched current KSh traveller quotes were established.
Will AfriPolicyCover take my passport or trip details?
No. This edition has no quote, provider handoff, assistance request or personal-data form.
